British media: Hong Kong's national security law conforms to "one country, two systems"

Release time : 2020-07-07

Ben Chaco, a well-known British political commentator and editor of the morning star, said in an interview with the head office recently that Hong Kong affairs are purely China's internal affairs, and that the British side's groundless accusations and wrong actions towards China are purely provocations.

Ben Chaco, a well-known British political commentator and morning star editor: I don't think Hong Kong's national security law violates "one country, two systems". I think it's just an excuse to provoke China. According to the Sino British Joint Declaration, Hong Kong returned to China in 1997. Hong Kong is a part of China. Since then, everything has been settled. The so-called "China's violation of international law" is totally untenable.

Ben Chaco also said that the British side's recent practice of pointing fingers and gossiping about Hong Kong's national security law is very hypocritical. It is promoting the Cold War mentality, and choosing international cooperation is the right way.

Ben Chaco, a well-known British political commentator and editor of the morning star: I think it shows how hypocritical the British government is, because there is a global refugee crisis now. If they really want to protect the persecuted, there are too many refugees. Why don't they accept it? So I think it's very reckless, very dangerous. Because the new cold war was not initiated by China, it was initiated by the United States. You know, the US government has been tearing up various international agreements. Obviously, the United States does not intend to cooperate with other countries. The provocative stance of Washington is to attack China in this way. Responsible politicians should work hard to defuse tensions and establish international cooperation, rather than participate in hostility towards China.
