Meng Wei, spokesperson of the National Development and Reform Commission, introduced on the 17th that in the face of the impact of the new crown pneumonia epidemic, the cooperation in the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" showed full resilience. Up to now, my country has signed 201 cooperation documents for jointly building the "Belt and Road" with 138 countries and 31 international organizations.

Since the beginning of this year, the new crown pneumonia epidemic has spread globally, and the uncertain factors in the development of the world economy have increased, which has brought new challenges to the joint construction of the “Belt and Road”.

Meng Wei said at a press conference held by the National Development and Reform Commission on the same day that the promotion of the “Belt and Road” initiative will help stabilize foreign trade and foreign investment. In the first three quarters of this year, my country's total trade imports and exports with countries along the route was US$963.42 billion. Although a year-on-year decrease of 1%, the growth rate was 0.8 percentage points higher than the overall national level. Non-financial direct investment in countries along the route reached US$13.02 billion, a year-on-year increase of 29.7%, which was 32.3 percentage points higher than the overall national growth rate.

China-Europe Express trains have grown against the trend. As of November 5, the number of China-Europe freight trains operating this year reached 10,180, which has exceeded the total number of operations last year. 927,000 TEUs of goods were transported, a year-on-year increase of 54%. The round-trip comprehensive heavy container rate reached 98.3%. The transportation network continued to expand and it was accessible 92 cities in 21 countries in Europe. Since the beginning of this year, nearly 8 million pieces of medical supplies, totaling more than 60,000 tons, have been transported. They have become the "life channel" for anti-epidemic cooperation between China and Europe, and have provided important support for maintaining the stability of the international supply chain.

At the same time, a number of major projects have made new progress. The entire line of the China-Laos railway tunnel has been completed. The first phase of the China-Thailand Railway has reached an agreement. The construction of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway has achieved the node goal. The EPC contract for the Hungary section of the Hungary-Serbia Railway has officially come into effect. The Lahore Orange Line project in Pakistan opened to traffic.

The Healthy Silk Road also made new breakthroughs. Since the outbreak, China has upheld the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind, actively fulfilled its international obligations, played its role as the world's largest supplier of anti-epidemic materials, and provided materials and technical assistance within its capacity to countries along the "Belt and Road". It has provided more than 150 countries and international organizations Provided more than 280 batches of emergency anti-epidemic material assistance.

Meng Wei said that with the global spread of the epidemic, many sea and air cargoes have accelerated their transfer to railway transportation, and the growth of China-Europe Express Express cannot keep up with the increase in demand. In order to promote the sustained, stable and safe operation of the China-Europe Express, the National Development and Reform Commission is working with relevant departments and local governments to make every effort to increase the capacity of the China-Europe Express.
