Usage:
DL-Methionine Feed Grade is approved for use in all animal species. Particularly use in monogastrics, it ensures the adequate supply of sulfur amino acids, especially of the essential methionine. Additionally, diets for piglets and growing pigs can show a considerable deficiency in methionine, especially when fomulated to achieve low nitrogen excretion for ecological reasons. Such a deficiency can be conveniently compensated by using Feed Grade DL-Methionine.
L-methionine, also known as L-methionine, is the left-handed body of methionine. The chemical formula is C5H11NO2S. Its chemical property is colorless or white shiny flake crystal or white crystalline powder, with a slight special smell and slightly bitter taste. Melting point 280 ~ 281 ℃. It is unstable to strong acids and can lead to demethylation. Soluble in water (5.6g/100ml, 30 ℃), warm dilute ethanol, alkaline solution or dilute inorganic acid. Insoluble in ethanol, almost insoluble in ether. Toxicity: LD50 29mmol / kg (rats, intraperitoneal injection).
